Kraka updates climate impact from the tunnel: Fehmarn is not green

The think tank Kraka has updated a 10-year-old analysis of the climate footprint of the Femern connection. The conclusion is not uplifting when viewed through a climate lens

This is how the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link is marketed, among other things, on the Femern A/S website. The idea is that the tunnel shortens the distance between Copenhagen and Hamburg and will increase rail freight transport.

However, according to a report from the think tank Kraka, the green aspect of the tunnel project is questionable. On the contrary, the think tank points out that it could take up to 181 years for the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link to become climate-neutral.
