The Germans removing 300,000 tons of ammunition from the Baltic Sea

The Bundestag has allocated 750 million DKK to remove a total of 1.6 million tons of ammunition from German waters. In the Baltic Sea, there are 300,000 tons, including areas near the island of Femern

Analyses show that in the German part of the North and Baltic Seas, there is a hidden stash of 1.6 million tons of ammunition which could pose a risk to both maritime traffic and the environment. In the Baltic Sea, an estimated 300,000 tons of ammunition and 5,000 tons of chemical weapons are present.
