Analyses show that in the German part of the North and Baltic Seas, there is a hidden stash of 1.6 million tons of ammunition which could pose a risk to both maritime traffic and the environment. In the Baltic Sea, an estimated 300,000 tons of ammunition and 5,000 tons of chemical weapons are present.
