Inflation costs billions for the Femern connection

Inflation has so far added six billion Danish kroner to the cost of the Femern tunnel. In addition to this, there are several sub-projects that push the total cost for the Danish part above 75 billion Danish kroner.

It is not only Danish food and energy prices that have been affected by inflation.

The Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link is also being impacted. According to a report from Femern A/S, the cost of building the tunnel has increased to DKK 61 billion since 2015 when the construction law was passed. The construction budget was initially set at DKK 55.1 billion.
