Meet the Team: Magnus Palmqvist, Trading Manager Nordics
Magnus Palmqvist joined Ritchie Bros. on 1 January 2026 as Trading Manager for the Nordics, covering Sweden, Norway and Denmark. He is no newcomer to the industry, though: he has worked in the equipment business since 2007, previously running rental and used equipment departments before joining Ritchie Bros.
A week on the road
Magnus splits his time between customers and the office, spending roughly three days a week out at customer sites and two days in the office. His portfolio spans construction equipment, trucks and transportation, material handling, agricultural equipment, and lifting and access equipment - a broad mix that keeps every week different from the last.
Handling the unusual
One of the things Magnus values most about working at Ritchie Bros. is the range of equipment the company can handle. Current listings on Marketplace E from his region include an RB-38 with a throwing bucket for Segertorps Entreprenad, a 1.3-kilometer conveyor belt for Implenia, and two ITC312 tunnel excavators from Veidekke. "That's actually the best thing with Ritchie Bros., we can handle almost everything," he says.
Being part of a company with a global presence also opens doors for his clients: equipment can move across borders and continents with far less friction than would otherwise be possible.
What clients look for
According to Magnus, clients in the Nordics choose to work with Ritchie Bros. because of trust: a process that ensures compliance, paired with access to multiple sales channels. He also notes that while every Nordic country has its own way of doing business, equipment in the region tends to come with more extras than what's typical elsewhere.
Above all, Magnus aims to deliver above his customers' expectations on every deal, whether they're selling a single piece of equipment or managing a large fleet.
Beyond the job
Outside of work, Magnus spends his free time with his family, ideally by the ocean: boating, fishing, and staying active are high on his list. One thing people might not expect: despite years spent around heavy machinery, he doesn't enjoy horror movies and is genuinely afraid of heights.
In his own words
Asked to sum up what Ritchie Bros. does in one sentence, Magnus puts it simply:
"We enable companies selling their used equipment through a secure and trusted process to a global buyer base."
